Multigenerational Insecticide Hormesis Enhances Fitness Traits in a Key Egg Parasitoid, Trichogramma chilonis Ishii

چکیده
Hormesis for the intractable pests can be dreadful, but natural enemies of pests, it is a puissant strategy in optimizing their mass rearing. We report multigenerational stimulatory effects widely used insecticide, imidacloprid, on demographic traits an important egg parasitoid Trichogramma chilonis Ishii. The study investigated consequences sublethal (LC5), low lethal (LC30), and median (LC50) concentrations, as well control, five continuous generations (F1 to F5). initial bioassay experiments revealed imidacloprid exhibiting highest toxicity with LC50 2 µg·L−1, whereas LC5 LC30 were 0.07 µg·L−1 0.6 respectively. Among biological traits, compared F1 individuals, substantial increase fecundity T. was observed F5 individuals by 54.92% 46.81% when exposed LC30, respectively (p < 0.00001). Further, there significant enhancement adult longevity oviposition days at both these concentrations. Considering population along gross reproductive rate (GRR), net (R0) also enhanced than F1; intrinsic (r) finite (λ) only upon comparing control. On other hand, exposure did not result notable differences or across Low concentrations have major influence induce hormetic subsequent generations. Overall, imidacloprid-induced hormesis stimulating development might helpful under circumstances mild fields could leveraged its

Development of endosulfan tolerant strain of an egg parasitoid Trichogramma chilonis Ishii (Hymenoptera: Trichogrammatidae).
A strain of T. chilonis, an egg parasitoid of lepidopteran pests tolerant to the most commonly used cyclodiene insecticide--endosulfan was developed in the laboratory. Tolerance to endosulfan was induced by exposing adult parasitoids sequentially from a sub-lethal concentration (0.004%) to the field recommended concentration (0.09%). The strain acquired tolerance to the insecticide after 341 ge...
متن کاملIntraspecific variability in the parasitoid wasp Trichogramma chilonis: can we predict the outcome of hybridization?
In the framework of biological control, the selection of effective natural enemies determines the final pest control. Thus, the genetic improvement of biocontrol agents could enhance the efficiency of biocontrol programs. Although promising, this approach has rarely been applied in this field. At the intraspecific level, hybridization between divergent populations of biocontrol agents is expect...
متن کاملIntraguild predation on Trichogramma chilonis Ishii (Hymenoptera: Trichogrammatidae) by the generalist predator Geocoris ochropterus Fieber (Hemiptera: Geocoridae)
Intraguild predation (IGP) is common in food web when two natural enemies share the same resources and prey. It may affect the success or failure of a biological control attempt. The role of intraguild predation by Geocoris ochropterus Fieber (Heteroptera: Geocoridae) on Trichogramma chilonis Ishii (Hymenoptera: Trichogrammatidae) developed on eggs of Helicoverpa armigera (Hubner) (Lepidoptera:...
متن کاملInnate and Learned Olfactory Responses in a Wild Population of the Egg Parasitoid Trichogramma (Hymenoptera: Trichogrammatidae)
Parasitoid insects face the fundamental problem of finding a suitable host in environments filled with competing stimuli. Many are deft sensors of olfactory cues emitted by other insects and the plants they live on, and use these cues to find hosts. Using olfactory cues from host-plants is effective because plants release volatile organic compounds (VOCs), in response to herbivory or ovipositio...
متن کاملEgg retention and dispersal activity in the parasitoid wasp, Trichogramma principium
Abstract Effects of egg retention on movement and dispersal activity of Trichogramma principium (Hymenoptera, Trichogrammatidae) females were investigated under laboratory conditions. Individual females were observed during one minute in the absence of hosts. Movement activity and dispersal rate were estimated by the length of the track and by the distance from the start point, respectively. Be...
